Member of the Month Elizabeth Recharte's Pilates journey began in South Korea, where she discovered its benefits while training as an aerialist. Pilates quickly became an integral part of her fitness routine, complementing the physical demands of aerial work.
When choosing a Pilates studio, personalized attention and convenience were key factors. Initially drawn to Vero Pilates for its small class sizes, Elizabeth felt the experience was focused and tailored to her personal needs. After some time away, Elizabeth returned to Vero Pilates as she was dealing with severe back pain and needed a solution to regain mobility and alleviate discomfort.
Instructor Aubre recalls, "When I first started working with Elizabeth, she was walking gingerly in protection of her constantly sore lower back. Now it isn't something she even has to think about. Through her private sessions we are able to stabilize and build the needed strength for her to flourish in her classes."
As a college counselor, Elizabeth has to cope daily with the demands of a desk job. She shares, "Now that I’m working a desk job, I’ve realized that sitting for long periods is one of the worst things I can do for my body. I spend a lot of time writing, getting deeply involved in my work, and often forget to stand or move around. Pilates has been a game-changer in counteracting those hours at the desk—it’s helped me regain mobility, improve my posture, and feel more connected to my body."
Elizabeth's progress has been remarkable. Team member Aubre mentions, "With [Elizabeth's] patience, trust, and consistency, her movement has changed dramatically in just a matter of months. Plus she is applying her new found tools from her sessions into her daily practice to better support her body in work and life."
For Elizabeth, Pilates isn’t just a workout—it’s a form of self-care and a vital part of staying active, aligned, and energized.
Outside of Pilates, Elizabeth is a devoted supporter of performance art, regularly attending shows and performances by talented comedians and artists. She shares, "Some of the best shows I saw last year were comedians Aparna Nancherla and Anna Akana. I love Rebecca Lemme’s Acts of Matter. I also really enjoyed Katelyn Sanchez and Alex Rix’s Show N’Tell LB. Performance art is what I missed most during COVID."
We love having you in our studio community, Elizabeth!
